Helped out a colleague to install dual CCFL angel eyes to his beloved Camry. It's tough considering the huge headlights.....ouch.....
Here goes the procedures considering all the elbow grease being put in (total of SIX man hours, phew.....)
Removing the front bumper shall be the first thing to do..... only a few bolts and clips and out it comes.....
Then remove 4 pieces of 10mm bolts holding the headlight assembly..... remembering to remove the wire harness to the bulbs - signal, parking, high and low beam. Out they go.....
Now, the hard work has only begun..... removing the lens assembly..... what's needed is some basic tools, a heat gun and lots of sweat and patience..... Here's how it looks like after separation..... You need to heat up the surrounding edge of the headlight assembly to soften the sealant before removing the lens (working from the top corner near the parking light down would be easier)
Since the CCFL rings are custom-fitted for Camry, it's just a matter of fitting them around the outer rims of the low and high beam area..... Testing time..... (not able to capture a perfect 2 rings angel eye due to the chrome reflector but hope this will do.....)
Repeat the same procedures for the other headlight assembly.
Re-assembly shall be the reverse - heat up the surrounding edge before fixing back the lens. Patience.... patience..... making sure to test the CCFL rings before re-assembly.....
With that being completed, now it's a matter of fixing everything back to the car. Connect the CCFL rings light source to the parking lights and here is the end result after the toiling.....
Not many photos being captured due to being too concentrated on completing the task (it's way past midnight already.....)
